CHARLES THOMAS

Winemaking

For over 30 years, Charles Thomas has been a dynamic force in Winemaking in Napa Valley.  His relentless pursuit of excellence has fostered innovative viticultural practices, driven by his involvement and passion for vineyards. Charles was responsible for the Robert Mondavi Reserve and Napa Valley wines from the 1980’s until 1994, and the first twelve vintages of Opus One were produced under his watchful eyes.  He redefined Kendall-Jackson’s Cardinale, and launched Lokoya and Verite.  For five years, he produced exceptional wines at Rudd Oakville and Edge Hill.  Most recently, since 2007, he has overseen the modernization of the vineyards at Quintessa, creating wines of unprecedented quality from the estate.  He is also partner and Winemaker for Longtable Wines – which produces outstanding Rhone blends grown at the nearby Longtable Vineyard on Mount Veeder.

LILI HSI THOMAS

A Napa resident since 1965, Lili Hsi Thomas has watched the valley grow into the legendary wine region it is today (her maiden name – Hsi – is pronounced like the English word ‘she’).  Throughout her three decades in the wine business, she has held management and executive positions in sales, marketing and wine education at some of the most respected wineries in the industry including Kendall-Jackson, St. Supery, Robert Mondavi Winery and Sterling.  Lili has lectured at the top graduate business schools in the country, including Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Columbia and University of Pennsylvania.   She is also a partner in Longtable Wines

WILL THOMAS

Viticulture

In addition to his responsibilities at Thomas-Hsi, Will Thomas is currently the viticulturist for the Lytton Springs and Geyserville estates at Ridge Vineyards.  Will was raised on the family vineyard, and thus feels most comfortable in the presence of grapevines.  He attended UC Davis and completed his Bachelor’s degree in Viticulture and Enology, as well as a Master’s degree in Viticulture.  Recently, he earned a Master’s of Business Administration in Wine Business at Sonoma State University.  Will takes great pride in being an organic and sustainable winegrower, drawing on vineyard and cellar experience at Merryvale Vineyards, Vineyard 29, Cakebread Cellars and Integrated Winegrow-ing.  He and his wife Nikki reside in Napa with their two children, both of whom are harvest babies.
